How Kiid collects information and the type of information collected
Personal Information: In order to create an account, offer our Services, process your transactions and improve your experience with Kiid and the Platform, Kiid must collect certain personal information about you and the children (as applicable), such as your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, credit card information, account number, information on the health, lifestyle and habits of applicable persons (including children) as well as other similar information.
Other communications: We may also require your comments about your experience with using the Kiid Services and Platform. If you communicate by phone with our service providers, the conversation may be recorded to assess the quality of Services or to protect both parties in case of disagreement.
Web logs: Kiid also maintains standard web logs that record data about all visitors to the Platform. These logs may contain: i) the Internet domain from which you access the Platform; ii) your IP address (your computer is automatically assigned an IP address when you surf the Internet; your IP address is either static or dynamic; a static IP address may be identifiable to you; a dynamic IP address is usually not identifiable to you); iii) the type of browser and operating system you use; iv) the date and time you visited this site; v) the pages you viewed on the Platform; and vi) the address of the website from which you linked.
Children: The Platform is not intended for children, and we do not encourage children to provide us with personal information. However, it is an essential component of our services that personal information about children be collected and shared. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under the age of 16, we will delete this information as quickly as possible. Kiid supports the guidelines and regulatory requirements provided in the applicable laws.
Personal information (especially those relating to children) is disclosed to third parties, such as the babysitters and other service providers, strictly on a need-to-know basis for the purposes of babysitting services, the operation of the Platform and complying with applicable laws. Personal information (especially those relating to children) are communicated in a secure manner and only to the persons concerned. For example, personal information about children is disclosed to the selected babysitter following the completion of the transaction.
How Kiid may further use my personal information
Kiid may also use and share your personal information and those of children for the following purposes:
- Conducting investigations and background checks for potential babysitters;
- Contacting the references of potential babysitters;
- Administering and providing our Platform and Services;
- Generating statistics, aggregating data, measuring the Platform’s activities, and detecting and preventing security threats;
- Helping us develop and market our brand, Services, promotions and advertising (Note: does not apply to the personal information of children);
- Communicating with you, including our members, about our products, services, upcoming contests and events, promotions and special offers, and other news about Kiid;
- Communicating with you about technical notices, updates, security alerts and support;
- Responding to your requests, complaints, comments and questions; and
- Other purposes that we identify to you from time-to-time.
KIID RESERVES THE RIGHT TO TRANSMIT AUTOMATICALLY AND WITHOUT NOTICE ANY INFORMATION THAT KIID DEEMS RELEVANT (INCLUDING PERSONAL INFORMATION) TO THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES TO PREVENT OR STOP ANY CRIMINAL OR UNLAWFUL ACT, ESPECIALLY IF THE HEALTH AND/OR WELL-BEING OF THE PLATFORM’S USERS AND CHILDREN ARE AT RISK.
This section tells you about Kiid’s online advertising practices.
As mentioned above, we use “cookies” as well as other similar tracking technologies (including scripts, pixel tags, etags, web beacons) on our Platform. Cookies are small text files that your browser installs on your computer or other device that enables the Platform to recognize you upon your visit. Some cookies are necessary for our Platform to function or to help us recognize you, such as when you log into your account. We collect this data to help us analyze our Platform’s performance, remember your preferences, track usage and tailor advertisements to you. We also have third party service providers, such as Google Analytics, who use third party cookies or other digital markers to help us maintain and improve our Platform and Services, and provide interest-based advertising on the Platform and on other websites.
What is interest-based advertising?
Kiid uses various tools, including interest-based advertising services, to help us and our marketing partners tailor advertisements that we think are more helpful and relevant to you. We customize and personalize this advertising to your interests based on information from your activities, such as the actions you take when you visit our Platform, or visiting websites that display Kiid’s advertising.
What are customized social media ads?
Kiid partners with third party social media platforms, such as Facebook, to show you customized advertisements. To offer such ads, we may convert your e-mail address, telephone number or other contact information you have provided to us into a unique value, which can be matched to your social media profile by our partner, such as Facebook or another social media platform. While Kiid does not provide any personal information to these platform vendors, they may gain insights about individuals who respond to the advertisements we serve. What are my choices with respect to targeted advertising?
You have a choice whether to accept the use of certain Cookies, as well as interest-based advertising.
Cookies. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies; however, the “help” feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting cookies and how to disable existing cookies.
Interest-Based Advertising. If you do not want to receive interest-based advertising on other websites or would like to exercise choices about the third party advertising networks that provide you with interest-based advertising, please see the opt-out options below.

Please note that if you opt-out, you may still receive online advertising from Kiid on other websites or applications. However, these advertisements will not be displayed to you based on your interests.
Customized Social Media Ads. To opt-out of customized social media ads, adjust your social advertising settings (for example, you can manage these settings via your Facebook profile), or use the links provided in the ad itself.

Storing & Sharing Information
Kiid may share the information collected with our service providers we have contracted to assist us in providing our business needs, including the purposes outlined below.
Your personal information may be used by Kiid as part of a targeted promotion of its products and Services insofar as you have participated in a customer loyalty program. Only authorized personnel of Kiid and of our service providers who require this information to perform their duties will have access to the file containing your personal information. Your information will be held at our offices or on our servers or those of our service providers, which may be located in a country outside of Canada and thus will be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
We may also share this information with third parties as part of a sale or assignment of a business participating in Kiid, or for audit purposes
We may share with third parties’ certain pieces of non-personally identifiable information and aggregated non-personally identifiable information, for example, the number of customers located in a certain geographic area.
Your personal information is kept as long as required for the purposes for which it was collected or for the purposes of compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations. When this information is no longer necessary, it is destroyed. When destroying documents and data, we follow strict procedures and ensure that only authorized personnel has access to them.
All personal information will be safeguarded in a confidential manner in compliance with applicable federal and provincial (including Québec) laws respecting the protection of personal information. Kiid employs reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information from loss, theft and unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, modification and destruction.
To the extent provided by these laws, you have the right to obtain access to your personal information and those of the children, and request that it be corrected if the personal information is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or ambiguous, or if the collection, release or keeping of the information is not authorized by law. We ask that you help us by notifying us of any change in your personal information. In addition, if you notice any errors or inaccuracies, please let us know and we will make the necessary corrections.
